La Molienda

Folks are always bemoaning what we don't have in the Broward/Palm Beach ethnic dining scene: No Nepalese food. No Tibetan. No Malaysian. Not a drop of Ethiopian, or any cuisine from the African continent, for that matter. One oversight has recently been corrected, though. Thanks to La Molienda (119 W. Oakland Park Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, 954-564-6961), we now have a place to grab some Salvadoran grub. Think citrus-marinated grilled chicken breasts, spiced shrimp, plantains, and beans and rice, all with a Central American rather than South American or Cuban emphasis. La Molienda's dishes may not be as exotic to us Latin-savvy diners as, say, dinnish wat (Ethiopian curried stew), but it brings us one step closer to broadening our culinary horizons.Hadley Hooper
