L&O on the Go

Lucille and Otley's landmark restaurant in Boynton Beach closed a few years back but has resurfaced as L&O on the Go (302 NE Fourth St., Delray Beach, 561-274-3085), owned and operated by their grandson Steve Scott and his wife, Lori. The petite space dictates this being primarily a takeout joint; the to-go emphasis will remain even after the upcoming expansion. Right now it's a little place with big flavors, starting with corn chowder, lobster bisque, and dozens of other homemade soups. Sandwiches and salads are the staples at lunchtime, but delectable daily dinners both fresh (steaks, chops, and grilled, broiled, or fried fish) and fresh/frozen (the most popular being chicken and biscuit short cakes smothered in gravy), truly distinguish this place from other takeout restaurants. Meals come with choice of two sides for less than $14, and can also come to your door via delivery. Don't miss the outrageous "mile high" meringue pie made famous by Lucille and Otley, proof that great desserts never die as long as they keep on the go.
