Finjan Bar & Grille

Most of us have probably never considered the lack of an upscale Glatt kosher restaurant in the Palm Beaches a problem. But an emerging Jewish population that observes the strict rules of kosher dining has apparently created a demand for a restaurant that serves meat products but no dairy, in accordance with the religion's Orthodox strictures. Enter Daniel Gweta, proprietor of Finjan Bar & Grille (330 Clematis St., West Palm Beach, 561-655-5757), who has recently reopened his Middle Eastern eatery as a Glatt kosher establishment. It's certainly good news for observant folk, but it's also a happy occasion for the rest of us. While Gweta spent about $20,000 converting the restaurant, the menu that was already in place lent itself so well to Glatt kosher rules that he otherwise had to make next to no change -- except, of course, that the restaurant is now closed Friday nights for the Jewish Sabbath. That means Finjan devotees have to get their fix Saturday night instead.
