When Daddy is recognized as one of the primary purveyors of jazz-rock, you'd expect a little of that fusion dust to rub off on the kiddies. But though Larry Coryell's place in history is secure as a founder of the genre, son Murali Coryell seems content to pursue the same rootsy muse chased by many of Larry's contemporaries -- folks like Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and Jimi Hendrix (kinda). Seeing Murali live must be quite a shock, given the rather unassuming, frumpy appearance of the man. But his guitar-slinging and vocal skills cannot be disputed -- and he's even played on an album with the great Larry Coryell. How 'bout that?
