The Reverend Horton Heat brings his traveling rockabilly revival to South Florida this week, with disciples Nashville Pussy working up the crowd to a fervent rush before Heat's sermon. The whole white-trash, gearhead greaser crowd that has grown slowly yet steadily over the past decade -- with perhaps a bit of a decline in recent years -- owes a lot to Horton Heat. With sidemen Jimbo Wallace and Scott Churilla, the good reverend is in many ways responsible for the rockabilly revival. Yes, from "Bales of Cocaine" and "Marijuana" to "Beer" and "Gin and Tonic Blues" to "Big Red Rocket of Love," no one gives props to intoxicants and sex with quite the same aplomb as the righteous reverend.
