I always find it gratifying when a breakfast/lunch eatery attracts enough of a following to extend its hours. Such is the case with Talula's Cafe & Tea Room (3045 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale, 954-567-0556). At least, sort of. The modest, homey café doesn't serve supper nightly, but it is offering occasional prix fixe, four-course, candlelit dinners with live piano music for $27.95. The next event, to be held Friday, June 21, features a choice of entrées including coq au vin or salmon Wellington and desserts such as "Talula's tulip," filled with chocolate mint mousse or fresh fruit with honey-lime sauce. Owner Nancy Fucci is not only encouraging would-be diners to make reservations before the place sells out but to bring their own favorite candles for their table's centerpiece. Hmm. I know it's tempting, but my advice? Leave the X-rated wax at home.
