Johnny V. is in the House

Sundy House, that is

You know an area is heating up when Nation's Restaurant News highlights it. This past week, Delray Beach was pinpointed as a palate-singeing zone. Of the five restaurants mentioned in the "What's Hot In" column, three are relatively new: Sopra, Aura, and De la Tierraat Sundy House (106 S. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach, 561-272-5678). I know what you're thinking: Sundy House has been around for a few years now, and while the renovated historic house and tropical gardens have always been a visual treat, the kitchen's output has been merely so-so. But an infusion of fresh talent -- namely Johnny Vinczencz, formerly the Caribbean Cowboy of Astor Place in Miami Beach, and his longtime compadre Dwayne Adams -- is going to catapult this place into national renown. But don't take my word for it: Chow down on Johnny V.'s ranch-raised, pepper-charred yak and truffled Yukon gold potato skins or virtually any of the other New Florida cuisine items, many which have been flavored with tropical fruits harvested from the Sundy House backyard, and you'll become a believer as well.
