It's always a shame when a recording studio burns to the ground. There's a lot of expensive stuff in there, after all. And it's even worse when half the pricey musical doohickeys that are incinerated belong to close friends and colleagues. It's one thing to call your insurance company and tell them to send a check. It's quite another to call your buddy and tell him his vintage Les Paul just went to that great gig in the sky. And so, while owner Joey Callari waits for a fat insurance check that will ensure the new Mercury Studios is bigger and better than the last, a few local bands are pulling together for a benefit to pay back the friends and clients who lost equipment in the fire. Among the giving souls are Late for Life, This Is Our Journal, Way Outta Line, Westview, Time Will Tell, Mr. Varsity, Bum Ruckus, Num, Hydrosonic, Out of Body, Strepnote, Simple Kill, Death Becomes You (pictured), and Dead Star Assembly.
