Boca Raton, are you ready to get your wig on? It's time to party like it's 1980 with the only celebrated Athens, Georgia, band that's not a pathetic self-parody yet. While R.E.M. produces art movies and plays faux farmer, the B-52's continue to hit the road to the delight of retro-night refugees who pogo like Rock Lobsters and top 40 Gen Xers who shake ass at the Love Shack. After a long hiatus, singer Cindy Wilson has returned to the fold to help belt out the group's trademark dual harmonies and (naturally) shout "TIN ROOF... RUSTED!" Lest you think this is some pointless oldies tour, the bombers are promoting their first book, The B-52's Universe, a coffee-table tome that tracks the band members (and more importantly, their hair) from the pre-52 days of the late 1970s to their 25th anniversary party held last Valentine's Day. Get thee to Mizner Park Amphitheatre (Federal Highway at NE Mizner Boulevard, Boca Raton) at 8 p.m. on Friday, January 31. It's the closest thing to a Private Idaho we have. Call 561-962-4109.
