Last year, with the help of VJ Leeper, Lumb presented a multimedia dancefloor performance based on Sonic Diary. For its upcoming outing, Morganstern will accompany Lumb for the first time in nearly four years. He describes the band's new material as more bass-heavy, rock-influenced, and song-oriented than past efforts. Noted producer Cliff Brigden (John Digweed, Thomas Dolby) lent assistance. "In the past, I think the local environment was influencing us," Lumb says. "The songs we're writing now are about our experiences on the road."
That's a place Lumb can now call home, and the fans are the neighbors who stay up all night and listen to loud music. And Lumb wouldn't have it any other way: "You're working; they're partying. You're working to help them party. It becomes a whole different game."
