Given that Share Our Strength's "Taste of the Nation" fundraiser broke the $1 million mark last year, it is probably not surprising that the 2003 party is being billed as the "Million Dollar Celebration." On April 2, at the Fort Lauderdale/Broward Convention Center, 50 of the region's top restaurants, including Armadillo Cafe, Black Orchid, Zemi, 32 East, and Café Maxx, whose chef-owner Oliver Saucy is chef chair, will provide appetite-provoking tidbits. Amidst booths serving premium wines, there will be both auctions and plenty of opportunity for perusing. You can mingle with the masters by purchasing a VIP ticket for $125 or settle for mass consumption at $75 ($85 at the door; call Vicky to order ahead of time at 1-888-633-9861). Either way, expect at least 1,000 partygoers, whose entrance fees, thanks to sponsorships and donations from various companies, go entirely to organizations like the Daily Food Bank and the Florence Fuller Child Development Centers.
