"See, the thing is, if I write a song about an ex-girlfriend, it's not because I necessarily care about that ex-girlfriend, it's because I think that the feelings I had at the time are still valid and relevant," he explains. "That doesn't necessarily mean I'm still wanting that girl in any way."
Though Moffat still reminds himself of the pain of his mistakes in relationships every night, when he sings songs that bring up his past, he maintains a steadfast hope that he'll soon find the love of his life. Searching for a way to describe the motivation that keeps his optimism for women kindled, he answers, "I think everybody has to persevere until they find the right person."
