Those former Miami Dolphins players are such Good Samaritans. NFL Hall of Famer Dwight Stephenson played center for the Miami Dolphins for nearly ten years, he was selected for five straight Pro Bowls (1983-87), and he also served as an assistant offensive-line coach on Don Shula's staff in 1992. He was selected as the Miller Lite/NFL Man of the Year for his work in charity and community projects, and he remains the only Dolphin to win that award since its inception in 1970. Now he's giving back to the community in a form he's familiar with -- football. In addition to his past endeavors such as "Computers for Kids," a program that supplies underprivileged children with computers, Stephenson now hosts "Pigskin in the Park." This event benefits United Cerebral Palsy of South Florida and includes competitive and play-for-fun flag football tournaments. Entry fees range from $175 for a four-on-four team to $225 for a seven-on-seven team. If you think you're ready to pull some flags or just want to watch, head over to Tradewinds Park (3600 W. Sample Rd., Coconut Creek) for this two-day FUN-raiser! Call 954-584-7178. -- Audra SchroederSUN 8/10Hikin' 'n' Bikin'

By bike and by foot for the one-carat prize

Got the itch to run a few miles, bike for a half hour, then strap the kicks back on for another jog? Check this out! The starting gun sounds at 7 a.m. Sunday for the third leg of the Keno Brothers Jewelers Duathlon Series at CB Smith Park (900 N. Flamingo Rd., Pembroke Pines). The race encompasses three stages, beginning with a 1.65-mile run, followed by an 11-mile bike ride, and concluding with another 1.65 miles of running.

And for your athletic excellence, you'll receive more than just token applause: Every participant in a Keno Brothers series race is entered into a drawing for a one-carat piece of jewelry. That should be just enough incentive to get you toeing the starting line come Sunday.

Entry registration is $32, and each participant must also have a USA Triathlon license ($9). Call 954-433-3475, or check out www.multirace.com. -- Russ EvansSAT 8/9In This Corner...
