When the Cheese Course, one of my all-time favorite shops, opened in Weston Town Center, I thought Weston couldn't get any luckier. But as so infrequently happens, I was wrong. The Grape Merchant (1719 Main St., Weston, 954-660-0777), a chic boutique offering high-end wines and spirits, debuted about a month ago just a few doors away. Now Westonian hosts and guests alike can take advantage of one-stop shopping. It makes sumptuous sense, after all, to have wine with your cheese. And these wines, which line an entire wall of the narrow shop, are fairly select, comprising some unusual and hard-to-find bottlings that range from classic Burgundies to New Zealand screwcaps. The Grape Merchant makes discretionary spending even more tempting with a range of spirits, including grappa, sambuca, ouzo, and limoncello, along with premium vodkas and rums. Not sure what to choose for sipping at home or bringing to someone else? The knowledgeable staff is happy to help and will even advise you on which Riedel and Spiegelau glassware to purchase.
