Mr. A gets around. For the past 25 years, he's been peddling something to the kids of South Florida: magic. Mr. A is a four-time Florida state magic champion (yes, Florida has magic championships) and also owns a magic shop in West Palm Beach called -- you guessed it -- Mr. A's Magic Shop. And he's bringing his skills to the Puppetry Arts Center (1200 S. Congress Ave., No. 36, West Palm Beach) to ham -- or shall we say "turkey" -- it up. "Mr. A's Thanksgiving Magic" presents a variety of magic tricks that don't involve a rabbit and a top hat. He's also a skilled ventriloquist, so kids can expect a show that's part magic show and part puppetry performance. The shows run at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and all ages are welcome. South Florida Parenting magazine presents its ninth-annual "Holiday Show" at the Broward Convention Center (1950 Eisenhower Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). During the festivities, kids can ice-skate, rock-climb, bungee-jump, drive motorized cars, skateboard, ride ponies, or go on a treasure hunt. Santa makes an appearance, and attendees can also check out the giant dreidel house for Hanukkah. The holiday show goes on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $5. Of muppets and marionettes

THU 11/20The Cornell Museum of Art and History (Old School Square, 51 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach) recognizes the long tradition of puppetry with "A World of Puppets: Art and Imagination," which runs at the museum from November 20 through January 11. The exhibit includes nine-foot puppets of Alice in Wonderland characters from Bits 'N Pieces Giant Puppet Theatre in Dover, Florida; puppets from the previously mentioned folks at the Puppetry Center; and even puppets who achieved the height of fame from Fraggle Rock and other puppet-pandering programs. The exhibit, along with ice shows, a carousel, and many other sights and events, is part of Old School Square's holiday season. Call 561-243-7922. -- Dan Sweeney
