Since 1951, the Laurenzo family business -- a gourmet market and café in North Miami Beach -- has been considered the premier South Florida venue for imported Italian ingredients such as olive oils and caviars, aged and smoked meats and fish from salami to salmon, stuffed pastas, and eggplant casseroles. Now the clan has added a beachhead in another county. Laurenzo's Oceanside Italian Market & Prepared Foods (2501 S. Ocean Dr., Hallandale Beach, 954-929-2300) has opened in Broward, offering the same quality deli meats, specialty foods, prepared dishes, and produce. In addition, flowers and chocolates by the pound are available, as well as bakery goods and made-to-order coffee drinks. Not impressed yet? Try a quick lunch of a panini sandwich from the deli and a bowl of minestrone from the soup bar. And coming soon, more options from a juice bar, a salad bar, and a wine bar. That's what I call a gourmet Italian market -- bar none.
