Charcuterie Too! at the library offers sandwiches and salads to digest with your words
If books are food for thought, let it also be said that food is reading for the stomach. Charcuterie Too!(100 S. Andrews Ave. Fort Lauderdale, 954-463-9578) located on the second floor of the Broward County Main Library, offers a short selection of fresh breakfast and lunch items that are similar to a John Grisham novel -- appealing to a wide audience, easy to get through, and generally satisfying. Sit indoors or on the outside patio and lose yourself in a compelling fork-turner such as Greek, Niçoise, or spinach salad. Sandwiches -- tuna, chunky chicken salad, turkey, roast beef, and Virginia ham -- are predictable but nonetheless enjoyable potboilers, the only real mystery being which bread you choose. Coconut layer cake, made on the premises, is a classic American novel--no matter how big the slice, after you finish, you'll want more. Some steam table items, like baked ziti and chicken parmigiana, are as hard to get through as a 600-page biography of Joe Lieberman, but no library has all good books.
