On the phone, Michelle Russo is a salt-of-the-earth Italian girl, the daughter of a detective with a little bit of Jersey in her voice. In person, she¹s the beautiful blond whom snowbirds go clubbing in South Beach to see. And she can sing too. Russo is half of the pop-rock duet Sol Russh. The other half of the group is Miami-born Madeline de Sol. ³Madeline has a soft, sweet type of a sound,² Russo says of her brunet counterpart. ³But it¹s also kind of sensual. I do a lot of power stuff, the hooks and stronger sections of the songs.² The group¹s guitar-driven harmonics are homegrown and perfect for sunny, open-air, South Florida stages. After recording a few singles with producer Guy Roche, Sol Russh has begun its live campaign with performances at Ocean Drive¹s ³Volleypalooza,² the ³Y-100 Wing Ding,² and the ³Seadoo Surf and Turf Championships.² This weekend, the duo performs at ³Calliope Fest 3,² whose headliners are Lisa Loeb and Sophie B.
