SAT 4/3 When Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung spoke of the collective unconscious, he hadn't experienced the trance-inducing multimedia displays at Lumonics Light Museum (3017 NW 60th St., Fort Lauderdale). If he had, Jung would have a new entry in his lexicon of psychobabble: Konscious Kollective, Lumonics' electronic dance music event that happens this Saturday. Konscious Kollective features a celestial smorgasbord of DJs, like Indovisual (funky breaks) and Burner (two-step), plus MCs Shadoelyte and Motive. Wrapping up the night with an "intergalactic" show of light are Lumonics artists Dorothy Tanner and Marc Billard. The cost is $12 before 11 p.m. and $15 after. Artist gives you the chills

THU 4/1 "We May Even See the Wind Together,"an installation by Miami-based artist Hernan Bas, is a haunting multimedia assembly. Photographs and video clips of Abercrombie boys sporting fake Jaws fins. Copper piping, seashells, books, and a treasure chest on the floor near a desk that seems hastily abandoned. A single painting of a schooner being attacked by a giant octopus. You hear wind from a video of a flying ship-shaped kite and an übercreepy music-box rendition of "Sunrise, Sunset." Together, they make you feel like you've washed up out of the hot Boca sun into a cool and lonely underwater cave. But in a good way. I guana hold your hand

WED 4/7 About a year ago, salsa and merengue devotees at Pembroke Pines' Cafe Iguana packed the 25,000-square-foot club's Babalu Bar, while hip-hop resounded from the larger main dance floor area. To accommodate this following, the club started holding Miercoles Noche Latina ("Latin Wednesday Night"), offering free paella and a live radio show. Alas, the paella and radio are no more, but staff members cite a midweek crowd of some 600 that's bueno. Owner Stephen Caputi is adding a Latin menu and bands, such as Grupo Niche. "We're interviewing [our Latin clientele]... so the menu will end up shaped... to what the Latin crowd wants," Caputi says. Cafe Iguana (8358 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines) is open from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesdays. Admission costs $5. Call 954-433-8787. -- Michelle Sheldone
