Sweat for a Cause

FRI 5/28 So, you've always wanted to finish a triathlon, but you've been too lazy to switch off the TV, put down that tub of buttered popcorn, and lace up your running shoes to even start a triathlon. Well, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program will hook you up with other athletes who are preparing for a triathlon, marathon, or century ride. It also provides motivation to cross the finish line -- each team member raises funds in honor of a patient who is battling blood cancer. Join a team today by calling 561-775-9954 (Palm Beach County) or 954-961-3234 (Broward County) or visit www.teamintraining.org. -- Deirdra FuncheonRev It Up!

All of the weekend's 19 races will be run on Moroso's 2.25-mile road track. GT races will cover nine laps, while Sprint Finals will go six laps. Picnic in the Marlins' park

SUN 5/30 Looking for something more up-close and personal than your typical baseball game, watching from afar in a cramped plastic seat? The Florida Marlins Community Foundation presents the eighth-annual "Dinner on the Diamond" today, immediately following the 3:05 p.m. Marlins-Mets game. Fans will enjoy a picnic right on the outfield grass of Pro Player Stadium (2269 Dan Marino Blvd., Miami) with Marlins players and their families. Participants are encouraged to bring blankets to sit on during the evening, to be donated later to the Camillus House, a charity benefiting the homeless throughout South Florida. Proceeds will also go to benefit the Daily Bread Food Bank. It costs $100 for adults and $50 for youth under 21, including dinner, drinks, a souvenir gift, a silent auction, and live entertainment. Call 305-626-7352. --Russ Evans
