Bebel Gilberto

Do you own wind chimes? Do you have an obscene amount of candles in your house? You might be a Bebel Gilberto fan. But that's not to say the Brazilian chanteuse is just for folks who read all of Oprah's book-club selections. Hell, no. Gilberto is, in a word, smooth. The sultry tunes on her recent release, Bebel Gilberto, deliver her velvety vocals and sun-kissed orchestrations that dive in and out of delicate bossa nova. OK, if you spend time piercing your own septum and screening anarchy symbols onto your messenger bag, she might not be for you. But if you enjoy a healthy dose of sexy samba, come on over. -- Maggie-Margret

Bebel Gilberto performs at 8 p.m. Sunday, August 8, at Margaret Pace Park, 1745 N. Bayshore Dr., Miami. Show is free. Call 305-672-5202.
