How Bad Can It Be?

Badical Tour

The fact that rock 'n' roll never gets old is what keeps it churning out wild-eyed hopefuls, desperate to make a racket and rebel against... whatever you got. This is instinctual music; either you got it or you don't. These days, there are a lot of pretenders to the rock 'n' roll throne who don't have it but know where to steal it. Underoath, a band rolling into town on the totally Badical Tour (yeah, that's really what it's called), has put in a lot of time touring, paying dues, etc. and its polished sound reflects its experience. These six central Floridians look like shaggy Gap models but talk tough about the pretty-boy image of the "metrosexual" music business. Someone once said, "Don't shit where you eat." Sounds like good advice. These Arms Are Snakes are playing too -- they do a wonderful Jesus Lizard impersonation.

Underoath, These Arms Are Snakes, the Chariot, and Fear Before the March of Flames play at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Revolution, 200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $13. Call 954-727-0950.
