After spending years jamming on elegant sushi and dishing out raw blues, it's no surprise local Renaissance man Kenny Millionsis going to the source of both. This week, Millions teams up with Akikazu Nakamura, an esteemed Japanese musician who's a recognized master of the wooden shakuhachi flute. After a Friday performance at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, the two take their show -- which features Nakamura on flute and Millions on sax and clarinet -- to the Japanese gardens of the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. The beautifully landscaped gardens and classical Japanese architecture of the Morikami should provide a unique, serene setting as Millions and Nakamura perform solo and as a duet, playing traditional Japanese compositions and modern jazz arrangements. Come early for the optional bento box dinner for a full, cross-cultural immersion.

Kenny Millions and Akikazu Nakamura play at 8 p.m Friday, June 17, at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, 1650 Harrison St., Hollywood. Tickets cost $15 in advance, $18 at the door.
