Catch of the Day

Reel Big Fish

Don't be afraid to say it: You thought that ska was dead and that its bastard brethren had gone out to sea too. But here we are, a long time after '96's Everything Sucks, and ska-punkers Reel Big Fish are on the road again, supporting a new album. Maybe it's their humorous approach to their craft (and maybe the fact that six damned band members can live with one another in a van without the trombone's spit valve being emptied into unsuspecting ears!) that has kept them in the game so long. Dropped in April and already loved by fans, We're Not Happy til You're Not Happy contains stellar tracks like a cover of Morrissey's "We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful" and "Your Guts (I Hate 'Em)," which will surely have throngs of acne-oozing teens pogoing like human pistons. This is exactly the kind of raucous, rocking revue Revolution was built for.

Reel Big Fish, along with El Pus, Punchline, and Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer, brings its carnival ska-punk to Revolution, 200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 14. Advance tickets fetch $18.50. Call 954-727-0950.
