Despite a name that sounds like some kinda tree-hugging, spoken-word collective, Green Poet Experiment is actually one lone guy from Jupiter playing pensive, acoustic folk music. Todd Colucci does a lot of standard acoustic strumming, but check his self-produced Flags and Dreams, set for release this summer, and you'll also hear wistful piano trills and lo-fi, downtempo beats. Colucci's been playing since he was 18, penning minimalist tunes that speak equally of youthful yearning and more adult frustrations. He's also been hitting stages on the local open-mic circuit and working gigs all over Palm Beach County. As plaintive as his songs are, Colucci keeps a wry perspective on his work. His blog (http://myspace.com/gpe) offers this bit of self-congratulation: "Keeping a band together is a difficult thing. But since I moved here last June, I haven't broken up yet." Just don't stab yourself in the back, Todd, and you'll be fine.

Green Poet Experiment starts at 6 p.m. Monday, July 25, at South Shores Tavern and Patio Bar, 502 Lucerne Ave., Lake Worth. The show is free. Call 561-547-7656.
