If you grew up in South Florida in the '90s, you probably love metal. You probably dearly miss ZETA. And every year, you probably thank your lucky stars that Nonpoint, Miami's premier Latin American rap-metal icons, are still holding it down. Formed in 1997, the band features a lineup that's half Latin lovers, half honky studs. Lyrics are in English and Spanish, fusing hard-hitting rhymes and guttural, melodic lines, delivered in an almost sing-song fashion. All that madness is deliciously layered over a chunky, sometimes atonal, rhythm-fueled barrage of detuned guitars, bass, and drums — sort of à la Rage Against the Machine. This tour — which teams the hard-charging fourpiece with fellow longstanding angst-heshers Sevendust — comes on the heels of last year's To the Pain, the band's fifth full-length. Break out that pair of JNCOs, polish the Docs, and wax up the neck tattoo — this one's for headbangers only.

Nonpoint plays with Sevendust, Socialburn, Wicked Wisdom, and One at 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, at Revolution, 200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $19 in advance or $22 the day of the show. Call 954-727-0950.
