If you arent up for running further than the average commute, take a crack at the 13.1-mile half-marathon. Though, if you cant run a mile without throwing up, just hang out and watch the thousand or more sweaty folk gasp for air as they jog past. Therere live performances along the route like Billy Bones (Beach Place), the Ballyhoo Wranglers (the Elbo Room), and the White Collar Crime Band (at the entrance to the Birch State Park). It all kicks off at 6:15 a.m. when Billy Bones plays the National Anthem on his trusty saxophone. Runners start off at the 17th Street Causeway, next to the Broward County Convention Center (1950 Eisenhower Blvd. Fort Lauderdale). Registration costs $85 for the full marathon, and $55 for the half. Call 561-241-3801, or visit www.a1amarathon.com.
