Over the years, Raitt has become a true renaissance woman, exploring blues, R&B, rock, pop, jazz, and world music styles; surviving the highs and lows of fame and obscurity; and working tirelessly in activism. Indeed, at an age when many of her peers are nearing retirement, Raitt seems to be hitting her stride. Not bad for a woman who never planned to go into music.
