Grimly Fiendish

It’s a no-brainer. A long-defunct band you grew up worshipping gets back together and chooses you to replace the original vocalist… How can you say no? Sure, there’ll be plenty of griping from diehard fans about how you’re not the real singer. But that’ll pass. At least, it did for Michale Graves, the young rocker who replaced Glenn Danzig as frontman for legendary horror-punks the Misfits. Graves knew what he was doing. While the Misfits may be back in the coffin, Graves’ newfound name recognition has kept him in the spotlight. And, proving he’s a true misfit, Graves turned against the punk tide in 2004 by helping launch ConservativePunk.com, which is exactly what it sounds like – a website for right-wing rockers. Is Graves a punk rock Rush Limbaugh? Perhaps, but he’s got his own band… and much cooler makeup. Graves performs Friday at Maguire’s Hill 16 (535 Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale). The show starts at 10 p.m. with Death Becomes You, the Coffin Caddies, and the Dead Popes. Admission costs $10. Call 954-764-4453.
Fri., April 14
