Another April Fools Day has passed, and so has the fear of being pranked by your buddies around the office. Now its time for another annual April event -- April Pools Day, the yearly fiesta hosted by Miamis kings of creep-core, Pool Party. OK, so maybe creep-core isnt a real genre, but how else can you describe a band fronted by a dude in board shorts and aviator glasses who sings about how he likes being touched? Were talking creep with a capital c. No really, thats his name Creep Guirdo.

It is not uncommon for the ladies to lay their hands all over us when we play live, Guirdo says. Usually, during the song Touch, a lady or two will be touching me during the guitar solo. Uh-huh. But its not just the groups good looks that causes such behavior (as if!). Its music has been known to trigger similar reactions. A typical Pool Party set runs the gamut from Ramones-style punk, pop-punk, and garage, to disco, dance, Kraftwerk-type robot music, freestyle, gospel, and country. And, yet, the band fit right in when SoFla Records included its song Wutchu Got 4 Me on the compilation, SoFla, So Good, So What? But while that song has eight keyboard tracks on the recording, Guirdo says the live version will be stripped down to its bare essentials just the way he likes, well, everything. The party starts at 10 p.m. Friday at Churchills Pub (5501 NE Second Ave., Miami). Also performing are the Nancy Boys and the Remnants. Admission costs $6. Call 305-757-1807.
