Peace, Jammit

Earth Day Peace Jam

C'mon, folks, give it up for the Earth. I mean, stuff like mountains, sunsets, dolphins, and shooting stars are totally cool, not to mention cheeseburgers and sex in tall grass. For all you do, Earth, the least we can do is give you a day. For the seventh straight year, the Earth Day Peace Jamcelebrates this gorgeous, blue marble we usually take for granted. Ten Earth-tastic local bands, including Bridgeport Folly, the Burnin' Smyrnans, and the beloved Crazy Fingers, provide the soundtrack, and plenty of fun stuff for kids as well as tasty ethnic foods will be available. A tree-planting ceremony and a Native Maya Earth Blessing will keep the party spiritually focused. All that, along with a sunny setting beside the Intracoastal, is proof enough that we live on one of the sweetest planets around.

The Earth Day Peach Jam runs from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at Bryant Park, where Lake Avenue meets the west end of the Lake Worth Bridge in Lake Worth. The festival is free. Call 561-585-2958.
