It's so easy (and predictable) to dog the cover band: They're murdering the songs that made rock 'n' roll great. But then again, the best rock 'n' roll bands are really cover bands at heart. AC/DC guitarist Angus Young channels Chuck Berry so closely, you almost forget he's not as pretty. And if Led Zeppelin covered any more blues standards, you'd think they were born on the Mississippi rather than in England. But Physical Graffiti and Highway to Hell — the Led Zep and AC/DC tribute bands playing the Monsters of Mock tour — make no bones about who they're stealing from. Thievery is honesty is the new originality; rock is rock, and mock is rock too. It's good living in the new millennium.

The Monsters of Mock, featuring Physical Graffiti and Highway to Hell, rocks out at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Legends Theater at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood. Tickets cost $12. Call 954-792-7777.
