Do Something Fishy

First, the bad news: 18 losses. Now, the good: seven wins. That’s the Florida Marlins record at press time. But there are other good things to talk about. Namely, that Jeremy Hermida should be back in action after rehabbing a strained hip. Josh Willingham is batting so well that manager Joe Girardi is keeping him in left field; in fact, Willingham is playing so hard that teammates call him “Hammer.” And we still have Jason Vargas, Dontrelle Willis, and Miguel Cabrera showing off their moves. Additionally, the state Senate last week gave the nod to hand over $60 million to the Fish, so that they could build a stadium in Hialeah and not move to Texas as threatened. (It would be kind of funny to have Marlins in San Antonio; the city’s landlocked.) Thursday, watch the Marlins face the Atlanta Braves at 7:05 p.m. at Dolphins Stadium (2267 Dan Marino Blvd., Miami).
