Evergreen Terrace
by Max SirianniEvergreen Terrace wants you to know that it is not a Christian band or a straight-edge band. It is strictly a hardcore band (its website address is www.evergreenterracehxc.com). Though the group's songs tend to be catchy and melodic, the guys never let go of their violent and forceful identity. Evergreen Terrace's 2005 Eulogy Recordings release, Sincerity Is an Easy Disguise in This Business, was its first with original material since 2002 — and the band's growth is obvious. It has upped its melodic output, deftly intertwining the furious screams of lead vocalist Andrew Carey with the more clean-throated singing of guitarist Craig Chaney. And despite the band's penchant for aggressive music, Evergreen Terrace does in fact have a lighter side. The group's name is a reference to the street The Simpsons live on. Also, U2 and Smashing Pumpkins covers have been known to appear in ET's set list. Oh, don't worry — they're still hard to the muthafuckin' core.
