When both halves of a couple drink from Dame Fame's trough, it's often marriage's acid test. While some pairs eventually implode (e.g. Bennifer), some endure, their bond buttressed. Take Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. While the country music stars can be lumped in with the beautiful rich category, they seem genuinely happy together. McGraw, son of baseball's Tug, supplanted Garth Brooks as America's number-one pop-country pinup. Hill (raised in Star, Mississippi, ironically) is Shania Twain's successor, projecting the wholesome earthiness Twain lost at the upper rungs of success' ladder. While McGraw and Hill have a way to go before becoming Johnny and June, McGraw bucked Nashville convention by recording with his regular working band rather than some major-label-assigned session crew. And Hill, despite affluence and megastardom, retains some blue-jeans-and-
T-shirt humbleness. It's about the singin', not the blingin'.
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at BankAtlantic Center, 1 Panther Pkwy., Sunrise. Call 954-523-3309, or visit www.ticketmaster.com.
