Mr. G's Rock N' Roll Bar and Grill

2650 S. Military Trl., West Palm Beach, 561-434-9917

It all started when Mike Goede was 14 and charged his friends $5 a pop to see local bands play in his parents' garage. Now, 30 years later, Mr. G has done what every kid dreams of — opened a serious rock bar. With Clematis Street barely twitching anymore, Goede bought and renovated Classics, a hovel that attracted the seediest of West Palm Beach's drinking crowd. He installed a 24-square-foot stage and $150,000 sound system, as well as a massive patio and 55-foot-long outdoor bar. Mr. G's is ready to give some serious competition to the rock scene by bringing national acts to WPB. But, unlike Revolution or Sound Advice, which are only venues and not any place you can chill with a draft, Mr. G's doubles as the neighborhood watering hole. With a slew of pool tables, dartboards, and 30 flat-screen TVs, you won't want to leave after a show. Mr. G won't flick on the house lights and send you scurrying half-drunk to your car after the encore, especially since he's open until 5 a.m.
