Clit 45

With a name like Clit 45, there's probably not much chance this group of beer-swilling street punks will be on Total Request Live anytime soon. Blink-182 they're not. Not that Clit 45 cares, mind you. These Long Beach, California, natives couldn't give two shits about winning over the squeaky-clean pop-punk crowd. Their audience is more likely to hang out in a back alley than inside a mall. And everything's spiked — spiked hair, spiked jackets, spiked beverages. And the music will poke your eye out too. Clit 45 takes a cue from early Southern California punk (the Adolescents, TSOL) and British hardcore (Discharge, GBH). The band calls its sound "post-millennium streetcore." Sure, that's a bit of a mouthful (and can be abbreviated as PMS). But looking at the fluff that passes for punk these days, maybe it's time for a new label.

Clit 45 performs with New Mexican Disaster Squad, Modern Day 84, and the M.F.C. Destroyers on Friday, June 30, at Roxanne's on Main, 3148 NE 12th Ave., Fort Lauderdale. The all-ages show starts at 7 p.m. Admission costs $8. Call 954-567-9552.
