As Cities Burn

James Brown may hold the title of the hardest-working man in show business, but in the business of post-hardcore music, As Cities Burn could be the hardest-working band. Within two years of its first practice deep in the swamps of Louisiana, As Cities Burn had self-released two EPs and played a whopping 350 shows to crowds from coast to coast. Its relentless work ethic — combined with a unique blend of hardcore, screamo, and melodic punk — garnered considerable label interest; the band soon joined fellow hardcore acts Underoath and Norma Jean on Solid State Records. Following the release of its debut album, Son, I Loved You at Your Darkest, As Cities Burn has continued its nonstop approach to touring. And when the band tried to call it quits in June, a flurry of fan e-mails vetoed that decision. Now that's the power of the people.
