The Rhythm of RITM

Rabbit in the Moon

Confucius say, "Rabbit in the Moon will make electronic music more entertaining than a fire-breathing stripper with three boobs." All right, so the ancient Chinese philosopher didn't say that. And neither, for that matter, did the music producer born David Christophere. But it was the basic idea the latter had when he and DJ Monk formed RITM 14 years ago. And their dream was realized when a high-antic performer calling himself Bunny joined the group, making his grand entrance from the ceiling of an Orlando nightclub, lowered down onto the crowd like he was being rescued from a burning skyscraper. Then again, that's not too far off; RITM's known for busting out the pyrotechnics, wild costumes, and even wilder props (meat grinder, anyone?). It's somewhere between Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Cirque du Soleil but with a soundtrack that runs the electro gamut, from drum 'n' bass to trance to tribal — not the sort of thing you can sum up on a fortune cookie.

Rabbit in the Moon performs Saturday, July 29, at Revolution, 200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Doors open at 10 p.m. Tickets cost $25. Call 954-727-0950, or visit www.jointherevolution.net.
