With the help of international hip-hop superstar (and former Fugee) Wyclef Jean,Colombia's greatest legally exported gift to the United States, Shakira, has created an epidemic of her own with the dangerously addictive single "Hips Don't Lie." Just like the cash crop of her native land, the potent single has affected millions, with no sign of letting up nearly four months after it first hit radio. While the public's overdose of "Hips Don't Lie" may have made the blond bombshell of Barranquilla, Colombia, a household name in the States, Shakira has been moving crowds worldwide with her vocal prowess and voluptuous curves for more than a decade. On the heels, err, hips of her biggest single to date, Shakira has taken the show on the road. Oh, and Wyclef's coming along for the ride.
Shakira and Wyclef Jean perform Friday, September 15, and Saturday, September 16, at American Airlines Arena, 601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. both days. Tickets cost $17.50 to $85. Call 786-777-1250, or visit www.ticketmaster.com.
