One Celebration Under a Groove

George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic

It's taken only two years for Revolution to become Broward's most ambitious venue for live music. In that time, the club has played host to an astonishing mix of artists, from Fall Out Boy to the Black Crowes, Wu-Tang Clan to the Church, and Lagwagon to Liz Phair — more than enough star power to refute any notion that Broward is out of the loop, in terms of cool concerts. Thursday's anniversary includes a performance by futuristic funksters George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. Like Revolution itself, Clinton doesn't invite easy categorization. His mix of cerebral soul and outlandish experimentation generally leans more toward LSD than R&B. To paraphrase the title of Parliament's most memorable anthem, they'll likely tear the roof off the sucker... hopefully leaving it unscathed enough to survive many more years.

Revolution's Second Anniversary featuring George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic takes place Thursday, September 28, at Revolution, 200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $25 to $27.50. Doors open at 8 p.m. Call 954-727-0950, or visit www.jointherevolution.net.
