Sculpting More than Muscles

Practicing yoga helps position your mind into a peaceful, beautiful, space – so why shouldn’t your body do the same? Put down those “How to Meditate” videos mom sent you for Christmas and go try out yoga classes for art lovers at Coral Springs Museum of Art (2855 Coral Springs Dr., Coral Springs). Every Tuesday and Saturday morning, students unroll their mats on the floor of the main gallery and begin their stretches. The only difference with this yoga class is that the students can focus their balance by fixing on one of Tin Ly’s abstract sculptures… or look past their limbs and discover Sally Cooper’s experimental paintings. “We have people who have been coming here for years, but new people find out all the time!” exclaimed Sheri Adanti, the museum’s associate director. Just think of the taboo appeal: a space where you ordinarily wouldn’t speak above a soft whisper is welcoming you to flop, flail, and sweat all over the floor! And for only eight bucks a session, your body, soul, and wallet will all thank you. Call 954-340-5000, or visit www.csmart.org.
