MySpace really is taking over the world, ever since Rupert Murdoch got his grubby little hands on the friendly website. Aside from being the main cause of procrastination in offices around the world, MySpace is now throwing a megaconcert in Panama City for spring break, and Canadian rockers the Vincent Black Shadow are headlining the whole thing. That might be a blessing and a curse, but when they hit South Florida two days later to play a show in West Palm Beach, expect a more down-to-Earth vibe. The band, comprised of four Vancouver-area musicians who combine '80's-style glam with Seattle grunge to create a style of their own, are quickly on the rise. Aside from impressing the MySpace generation, their music videos are getting spins on MTVU and Fuse. It doesn't hurt that the group's lead singer, Cassandra Ford, is as hot as molten lava and has a voice that's radio-friendly and edgy at the same time. It's only a matter of time before they blow up, so catch them now while ticket prices are still affordable.
The Vincent Black Shadow performs Saturday, March 17, at Ray's Downtown Blues, 519 Clematis St., West Palm Beach. Halifax, Greeley Estates, and Madina Lake are also on the bill. Show starts at 8 p.m. Call 561-835-1577.
