At first glance, it might come across as another Hooters wannabe. Sure, the double-entendre of the ¨Double D Ranch¨ sign at the entrance isn´t very subtle -- but Daisy Dukes isn´t trying to be. The hostess greets you five feet into the place with a big smile and tiny shorts. You look around and see the all-female staff wearing (you guessed it) Daisy Dukes. There are 20-inch flat-panel TVs on the wall of each booth and 14 bigger flat-panel screens around the bar, all tuned to the day´s big games. Everyone knows watching sports is hard work, and this Pub Stalker got thirsty doing so. Beers such as Sierra Nevada, Blue Moon, Yuengling, and the usual suspects are available on tap. But don´t stop there. Daisy´s got a full bar, and the specialty drinks such as the Redneck Paradise, a 16-ounce glass of Bacardi Select, Bacardi Orange, Absolut Mandarin, and pineapple and grapefruit juices, comes highly recommended. The food runners are fast, and the food itself is big -- hell, the chicken wings looked like fried boomerangs. There are eight chicken-wing flavors to choose from, but go with the combination platter, and be sure to include Hawaiian and raspberry chipotle. The music can get a bit loud, and you might need to flail your arms wildly to get the server´s attention. On Wednesdays, show your tats to win the best tattoo award. Retro night Saturday means music from the ´60s, ´70s, and ´80s, and patrons can compete with the Daisy Dukes girls in a hula-hoop contest. This combination of corporate uniformity and local chill spot seems to work for this bar. After only three months, its owner is already scoping out two more locations. Like the beginning of the Hooters chain in the early 1980s, if you hurry, you might just witness the birth of an American institution.
