Walk Like a Man, Girl!

By Riki Altman

Published on July 25, 2007 at 12:02am

Perhaps the only thing better than reading lesbian erotica is watching it performed live, right? Probably true, but consider this your buzzkiller: the performance of “Walk Like A Man” is more akin to “Vagina Monologues” than “Briana Loves Jenna [Jameson],” though minors still aren’t allowed in. Those mature enough to handle the heat should still go and experience what Director Angelica Brooks has done with the onstage adaptation of Laurinda D. Brown’s 2006 Lambda Literary Award-winning book of the same name. An all-female cast will illustrate how homosexual women cope with losing a partner, domestic abuse, emotional infidelity, falling in love with the boss, rape, romance, new devotion, sex and religion, and other issues of importance. See them do their thing at Yuca (501 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach). Tickets for this 8 p.m. show range $27.50 to $30. Get them at www.brownpapertickets.com.
