It takes a true dancehall aficionado to appreciate the top-ranking ghetto sounds of Jamaica's Ninja Man. This is true only because most novice listeners, if they can even understand a word he's saying, would be scared to death of him. Dubbed as "the original front teet, gold teet, gun pon teet badman," Ninja built a reputation as one of the wildest, craziest, and most volatile figures to ever emerge from Jamaica's dancehall world. This is a scene that's reputedly violent, and for years, Ninja was the baddest bad man of them all. But these days, Ninja has decided to change his ways. Despite being part of a nasty brawl with Bounty Killer in Trinidad two weeks ago, Ninja Man, AKA Don Gorgon, swears he's ready to leave the gun talk and violence behind. He's officially dropped the "gun pon teet" portion of his alias and has taken to wearing all white at his performances to show he's now a symbol of peace. Whatever. Those who know Ninja can attest that's he's off his rocker, and whether he's wearing white, pink, or purple, he's still a badass every time he takes the stage. Armed with a bevy of hits and lengthy catalog dating back to the early '90s, Ninja takes the stage this weekend for a dancehall stage show that shouldn't be missed. This is Ninja's first performance in the United States in 15 years.
