Fizzy Hardcore

Emo and hardcore are like Itchy and Scratchy: one smiles dejectedly as the other saws it in half. Whether the two get along or not, Sugar Paradise (4221 N. State Road 7, Hollywood), a restaurant-turned-nightclub, is rolling the dice and hoping to score on tonight’s venture: a hardcore-meets-pop punk showcase. Paradise is better known among the reggaeton crowd, so when the bar’s management decided to cater to the local rock scene, it went straight to the source: the bands. They asked Agony’s Arrow to organize a christening show. The product of this laissez-faire attitude? A well-balanced diet of shrieks and hooks. Agony’s Arrow, I Lay Between the Remains, and We Shot the Sheriff will supply the metal/hardcore. Robots & Butterflies, In Between Names, and Blank Tape will bring the emo/pop punk. It should be interesting, to say the least. Show begins at 6 p.m.
Fri., Sept. 7, 6 p.m.
