Guy Harvey Gone Goth

One of the beauties of livin’-la-vida-SoFla is being able to walk into any ramshackle beachside bar and see an artist’s airbrushed wall mural of tropical fish. Of course, this cartoonish interpretation isn’t the only way to appreciate sea life.

In the works of Helter Skeletons, it’s what is underneath the scales, skin, and flesh that conveys the true artistry. In “The Art of Fish Skeletonization,” now through January 2008 at the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum (300 Gulf Stream Way, Dania Beach), bones lay bare in all of their spiky wonder. Starting with a beetle colony. that removes the outer bits, and ending with a whitening process, the show features the skeletons of everything from moray eels to snappers. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 954-922-4212, or visit www.igfa.org.
