A flight attendant's smackdown with the wife of mega-preacher Joel Osteen inspires a whole new set of commandments.
Today Denver, tomorrow the Twin Cities.
The provocateur who brought you "Piss Christ" pinches off a new concept.
Visit the world of Karen Kilimnik and you'll find a gothic landscape cloaked in a gossamer web of memory. Her trove of imagery flits from ballet, childhood, pop music, film and fashion icons, romantic painting, witchcraft, murder, melodrama and even time travel in scenes that upend the historic and recent past into an unnerving vision of the present.
Tonight at 7:00 p.m., the Museum of Contemporary Art (770 NE 125th Street, North Miami) unveils its newest exhibit, ÂKaren Kilimnik. ItÂs the first American survey of the influential artist's work, and it features more than 90 paintings, drawings, photographs, assemblages and installations dating back to the 1980's. One of her early "scatter art" installations on display is part stage set, part crime scene; it riffs on the 1960's TV show The Avengers, replete with tinkling chandeliers and a soundtrack by the Pet Shop Boys, Madonna, and the secret-agents' theme song. Tickets cost $10. Call 305-893-6211, or visit www.mocanomi.org.
