You Gotta Know When to Hold ´Em

By John Linn

Published on September 13, 2007

Ever since the Texas Hold ´Em craze emerged a couple of years back, everybody and their grandmother wants to get them some poker. Unfortunately, playing competitively is a lot harder than it looks on television – meaning a lot of people swept up in the craze ended up losing big. Still want to get in on the next hand? Before you go throwing all your hard-earned cash away like a newbie in Vegas, why don’t you try your luck at All in Free Poker at Ganey’s Bar & Restaurant (2301 W. Sample Rd., Deerfield Beach)?

We know what you’re thinking: Where’s the fun in free poker? Well, even though the Thursday night tournaments aren’t for traditional coin, you can still net prizes based on a nifty point system that gets tallied at allinfreepoker.com. What kind of prizes? The top card-shark at the end of each season’s play will even get a seat at this year’s World Series of Poker, so that’s pretty cool. And if that’s not enough of a draw, consider that Ganey’s throws down a special poker menu full of tasty bites fit for concentrated play (finger foods!). The games run from 7 p.m. to midnight, and usually run four tables deep throughout the evening. Again, it’s all free, but a $5 tip to your dealer is just good form. Call 954-974-0251.
